Organization and Management Research
Association and Management Research Association and the executives inquire about is at risk for getting superfluous Various looks into embraced by authoritative administration assists with picking up information in the administration field (Sandberg, Alvesson, 2011). Productive administration investigate is basic for any association as it can demonstrate the achievement and the disappointment of that firm (Davis, 2014). The tremendous expansion in the field of the board, over the past hardly any years, brought about an incredible advancement in scholarly articles distributed (Davis, 2014). In spite of all the great and important work being created, this development has been combined with consistent discussions that administration inquire about is getting unimportant in right now (Davis, 2014). This paper is planned to concentrate on the different discussions with respect to the current destruction of the board explore and proposes elective answers for those issues (Sandberg, Alvesson, 2011). In spite of the immense and careful achievement, authoritative and the board inquire about has a genuine inadequacy of high-sway examine in the administration field. It is contended that the analysts are getting superfluous for the business associations (Sandberg, Alvesson, 2011). There is a huge mutual idea of an upsetting absence of unique thoughts and creative commitments in the administration considers (Alvesson, Spicer, 2016). Research process improves the information and train individuals to scrutinize the set standards on the off chance that they appear antedated. Authoritative and the board inquire about procedure has a colossal absence of intriguing and powerful investigations (Davis, 2014). The issue is that there is no sign of testing the fundamental suppositions of set up writing (Sandberg, Alvesson, 2011). The hole spotting research strategy is for the most part utilized by the scientists and the foundations these days which are obstructing the passage of imagination in the field of research (Neuman, 2014). Advancement and inventiveness are required in this field, to scrutinize the past convictions of each person and obviously, the following errand of the examination procedure will be to give fundamental hypothetical and handy response to each person (Davis, 2014). The steady agreement affirming work is in the focal consideration as opposed to the accord testing commitments which are truly disillusioning for the editors, different scientists and for the observers (Quinlan, 2015). Institutional conditions, proficient standards inside the administration field and the explores personality developments, these three focuses are firmly interconnected and very persuasive for the association and the executives look into process (Alvesson, Sandberg, 2012). These three elements are similarly supporting and working on adding-to-the writing structure intends to discover the plausible hole in the exploration in this way topping it off with appropriate models and contentions as opposed to testing the entire framework and giving an intriguing and imaginative system (Neuman, 2014). There is a steady weight predominant for the scientists in the way of accomplishing character (Quinlan, 2015). These days, specialists are progressively keen on distributing their works in the top recorded diaries tolerating the hole spotting technique which diminishes the nature of research process (Verma, 2014). New transformative research is significant not exclusively to challenge the set susp icions of others aimlessly yet in addition, it is important for clear, basic and new perspectives in the authoritative and the executives inquire about (Quinlan, 2015). Hypothesis and writing examines are significant in everything that we do; they go about as a method of managing us to perform better in our individual fields (Sandberg, Alvesson, 2011). They are fundamental for hierarchical conduct, rehearsing authoritative brain research and at the hour of contemplating (Alvesson, Sandberg, 2012). Be that as it may, as of late, the field of association and the board inquire about has lost its embodiment and has become pulled in to the intriguing riddles and gleaming articles (Donaldson, Qiu, Luo, 2013). There has been no progression in the administration hypothesis; it is progressively worried about the amusement esteem present in the current articles and speculations, instead of concentrating on their certifiable worth and logical meticulousness (Donaldson, Qiu, Luo, 2013). The speculations ought to be precise and have an incentive for them to be applied in reality rehearses (Sandberg, Alvesson, 2011). Beforehand the speculations that were grown, particularly in the late 70s and 80s, they were totally engaged and planned for improving the current acts of the associations (Birkinshaw et al. 2014). The creators used to get theories from hypothetical recommendations, which were then tried before being framed into a hypothesis (Sandberg, Alvesson, 2011). This aided in distinguishing the fundamental connections like whom do they apply to, and why and where. The hypotheses of that time adequately tended to the what, how, why, when and where of the hierarchical wonder (Birkinshaw et al. 2014). The hypothetical commitments were checked on different parameters like what's happening, by what method will it impact, and why now (McKeown, Petitta, 2014). Right now, this has procedure has nearly disappeared (McKeown, Petitta, 2014). The scientists are progressively keen on getting a high amount of articles distributed instead of concentrating on the nature of the examination or speculations. This is on the grounds that, the quantity of articles being distributed every year has expanded essentially, and there is high rivalry among the writers to get their exploration papers distributed in driving diaries (McKeown, Petitta, 2014). A few new business colleges have been set up all around the globe and the current ones have extended altogether, in light of this there has been a significant increment in the quantity of articles for association and the board inquire about (McKeown, Petitta, 2014). Besides, governments have presented different evaluation equations like ERA and REF/RAE in Australia and the UK separately (Birkinshaw et al. 2014). These appraisal rules have been defined by the administration to oversee the colleges. Along these lines, along these lines, it has become a presentation marker for the top business colleges, as the more articles they can get distributed in the very good quality diaries, their positioning and status will be improved (McKeown, Petitta, 2014). This has prompted the colleges compelling the teachers and researchers to get a high number of articles distributed each year and along these lines, they can't investigate appropriately and produce articles which need great research and hypothesis (McKeown, Petitta, 2014). Also, despite the fact that there is a high increment in the quantity of articles being distributed, none of them have intriguing and inventive speculations, and are exceptionally repetitive (Alvesson, Sandberg, 2012). Since there has been an expansion in the amount of the executives articles, the writers have gotten serious and because of this the nature of the articles has improved (Karlsson, 2016). Be that as it may, this has not roused the creators in distributing as good as ever speculations (McKeown, Petitta, 2014). Research is done with the goal that the information on the specific field is upgraded and new and inventive speculations are found, which help in improving the current practices. By and by, the examination that is being done presently needs creative and intriguing hypotheses and belief systems (Alvesson, Sandberg, 2012). The creators have been distributing similar speculations monotonously and hole spotting is getting very famous. These articles are profoundly quantitative and contain figures from the previous years, which make them unimportant and intense to comprehend (Karlsson, 2016). Besides, they are simply founded on speculations and don't generally end up being precise. Since these association and the executives look into papers need important hypotheses and inventive thoughts; the current just as up and coming directors have quit understanding them (Farnsworth, Keeble-Ramsay, Kemble, 2014). These exploration papers don't have a lot of pertinence with the continuous administra tion world and the supervisors can't identify with them (Alvesson, Sandberg, 2012). In this manner, these papers are not comprehending the real reason and in light of this there is a discussion on whether these exploration papers are important for the business associations or not (Karlsson, 2016). The examination is finished by the creators on a similar subject tediously. In one case, there were two articles found on the Harvard Business Review, which was composed by accomplished writers having great information about scholarly administration investigate (McKeown, Petitta, 2014). These articles were composed by Bennis OToole (2005) and Behrman Levin (1984) and had a hole of 21 years. In any case, the substance of both these articles were same and they tended to similar issues (McKeown, Petitta, 2014). This is a proof of a similar research is being rehashed time and. This implies the issues have not changed by any means, and similar issues are tormenting the administration world even now (Johnston, 2014). In this way, the analysts ought not squander their assets for giving answers for a similar research monotonously and the past research papers and speculations can be utilized by the current chiefs as a guide (Karlsson, 2016). Or on the other hand the answers for the issues loo ked by the chief and how they can develop themselves have not been found by the specialists up to this point (McKeown, Petitta, 2014). Despite the fact that few issues are tormenting association and the board examine, and numerous individuals have been griping about the framework which is pervasive (Suddaby, Hardy, Huy, 2011). There have barely been any legitimate objections by these individuals with respect to the framework. This is on the grounds that; numerous individuals are getting profited by the overarching framework and are commanding the field, with the goal that it doesn't get changed. Different portions of individuals are proceeding to help this framework willfully (Alvesson, Sandberg, 2012). Just barely any individuals are there who really need this framework to be ch

Institute Electrical Electronics Engineers -Myassignmenthelp.Com
Question: Talk About The Institute OF Electrical Electronics Engineers? Answer: Presentation In this semester I have had the option to be a piece of class of promoting venture which was one of my center subjects I attempted. As I consider this class there are significant minutes which have experienced and might want to share them. In the paper I will talk about what I truly realized in the class comparable to the advertising, learning and part of the cooperation (Babin and Zikmund, 2015). Moreover, I will likewise take a gander at what I would have done another way next time I have a promoting extend or need to work in a group. What I found out about promoting In this class I saw it as helpful and inspirational. I believe that my insight and aptitudes have improved after I went to the class. My comprehension of showcasing has extended impressively because of going to this class , including the overall strategy to the issues concerning advertising angles in realities I found that the techniques for the promoting particularly in the part of the business has gotten increasingly muddled because of the effect of the globalization to it (Calco and Veeck, 2015). I have increased new information in territories, for example, multimodal conveyance and the impact to the various results, provokes identified with showcasing of learning material especially to the advanced age to the tertiary understudies. Different territories are on the showcasing research for the worldwide markets. I may likewise advance that my view concerning advertising altered during the course inside this semester. In the past I acclimated with see advertising as the sole obligat ion to the promoting division. I moreover used to imagine that all the exercises that are related with the promoting of the merchandise and enterprises were fundamentally embraced by only one office (Hair and Lukas, 2014). I am currently of the glance at that showcasing is a cross useful movement that is encouraged by collaboration inside an organization. I have likewise begun to value the pertinence of the creating overall viewpoint comparable to the advanced promoting officials getting intently natural to the distinctions of the customary significance of advertising (Pondel and Korczak, 2017). Learning The mentor who was taking us through this class went over board to ensure we handle the different idea identified with the showcasing. During the class he told us the best way to detect the worldwide showcasing openings through alluding to the genuine class concentrates particularly to the worldwide business world (Mummalaneni, 2014). I was amazed there was a long way to go with regards to the advertising task, and association needs to do a lot to ensure their venture could succeed. The coach additionally led visit conversation which occurred during the class and they were by all accounts inspiring and empowering when we talked about different angles identified with the showcasing. Cooperation There are different ideas that are found out identified with cooperation as I was associated with a considerable lot of them during this class. I got the chance to gain proficiency with a couple of things identified with it and would share a few. Something is that cooperation encourages one to learn content at a more profound level which is likened to the comprehension (Kleinaltenkamp, Plinke and Geiger, 2016). At the point when the understudies are disclosing ideas to one another, they contend for an answer, to legitimize the end. Through that cooperation they can explain their own reasoning and regularly it explains thinking about different students. Something else scholarly is working with the others. Cooperation encourages the understudies to figure out how to function with the others outside the friend network, which incorporate the individuals who have different foundations alongside encounters (Vos, 2015). They could even figure out how to function with the individuals who can 't help contradicting them. While having a promoting venture In the event that I have an advertising venture in future once more, there are different things I would do any other way. One of them is to attempt stretch out beyond the class before it start. In this class I had lingered behind and I missed a couple of things toward the start. In the event that I had a comparative class I would peruse, inquire about and set myself up successfully to empower me to have substance and information and the course would be a lot simpler when the ideas are examined. I would likewise attempt to counsel more later on especially to the ideas that I don't comprehend in the class with the guide. Need to work in a group At the point when I work in a group again later on, I would assemble the adequacy of the group through acting in amazing techniques to guarantee that different individuals from the group may mirror and follow. I won't deride a particular individual from the group yet rather acclaim and simultaneously offer credit to the acts of kindness every one of them has achieved (Gagnon, 2016). Something else I would do is to support the production of the solid and shared connections between the individuals from the group. Generally speaking what was your experience In this class I had a decent encounter. The educator was prompt in all the classes, the cohort had positive vitality. The ideas which were educated with respect to showcasing have broadened a lot of information to me. Through the collaboration we had particularly during the conversation of the task we had the option to manufacture relationship with the others past the study hall arrangement. Also, the relationship advanced regard and order bookkeeping the individuals from the group. Week by week journal Week 2 The gathering development Acquaintance finished with the gathering individuals Choice of the subject to talk about Making of a gathering in online networking for conversation Week 3 Taking a gander at the subject Conversation of the subject for making the report Detailing a draft for the report Week 4 Auditing the proposition and finishing on it Submitting of the principal task Preparation on the second task to the individuals Week 5 The individuals to talk about on the subsequent task Conversation on the theme for the venture Determination of different viewpoint on the task to convey a report Week 6 Individuals examine on the draft for the subsequent task Getting criticism from the class organizer and further talk about on the principal task Division of the principal task to the colleagues dependent on criticism given and making the revision Break week Amendment of the draft from the primary task Settle on the report and hard over the primary task Week 8 The people plan their own draft on the areas they were given The individuals talk about on the draft they give and different input given Week 9 The individuals choose the different drafts and select the best from the choices The substance are then consolidated and the last draft has is applicable The individuals audit the draft and furthermore consider the input gave Week 10 The individuals present the draft to the organizer to give criticism regarding the matter At the point when the criticism is given the part conclude on the report The last report is then submitted. Cath Anne: [00:01:40] OK so lets jump into the content for this week. Cath Anne: [00:01:45] In this lesson, as I mentioned, Im going to be discussing five academic words which are very important. If you are a university or college student or if you are intending to go to university it can also help you on standardized testing. If you are taking an ESL class or if you are studying to be a teacher who is teaching English as a Second Language these words can definitely help. The subsequent vocabulary lessons will also help you as well. So all these words came from a very common list of words that I just Googled. It is the top words that are used in the academic world and in the English language in academia. So I just wanted to let you know that there is information out there if youre looking to do some more research on your own about academic vocabulary. In this segment I will discuss the word. So I wanted to make sure that you guys were familiar with the words. Im also going to discuss the part of speech, so whether it was a pronoun, an adjective, or a n oun. I think today we only have nouns and adjectives but in the future we may have other of parts of speech. Cath Anne: [00:03:20] I will discuss the word, the part of speech, and also the meaning and then we will also put the word into a sentence so that you can understand it in context. That is very important particularly to get the meaning of something, but also to retain the information and memorize the words. Cath Anne: [00:03:38] Lets begin. The first word that were going to discuss is alternative. Alternative is most commonly used as a noun. This means an additional choice a possible remaining choice. Used in a sentence: She wanted to explore the alternative. In other words she wanted to explore the additional choice. You could also say: The alternative was to take Joes car. In other words taking Joes car was the additional choice. It wasnt the first choice but it was the alternative. Cath Anne: [00:04:30] OK. Cath Anne: [00:04:32] Number two is the word assessment. You may be familiar with the word assessment because it is also related to test. Thats exactly what it means. Assessment, in this case is a noun. Assessment is an evaluation of something. We dont often like to be scrutinized or be tested. You may be familiar with the word because you might hear it in school. Someone wants to do an evaluation of you and they give you a test, that is an assessment. Most of us dont like assessments but this is what the word means. Used in a sentence you could say: They wanted to do an assessment on the property. So in other words, maybe the insurance company wanted to come to the property, have their list and check off their boxes to do an assessment of the property and make sure that everything is in line before the next people buy the house. That is assessment. Cath Anne: [00:05:42] So number three is benefit. Benefit is a noun. Benefit means something that is advantageous. We can use it in a sentence and say: He gained many benefits from the work at the store. One of the benefits might be that he gets a discount on his groceries or maybe he gets a discount on his gas. That is a benefit. That is a positive beneficial situation. Who doesnt want to save money? That is the word benefit, another great word to incorporate into your academic writing. Cath Anne: [00:06:38] Number four word is one of my favorite words to use in academic writing: the word complex. This is actually an adjective. Weve discussed all nouns so far. Complex is an adjective. I should have noted before. There are some words that might sound the same or that might have a different meaning. So for example instead of saying complex we can also say, complex, which is spelled the same, but it actually means something different. So in this case were discussing the word complex where as the word complex would refer to an apartment building or a large building like a gym complex for example. In this case we are talking about the adjective complex. So if something is complex it means that it has many different interconnected parts that are unique. They are all twisted and tied together and they may be difficult to understand. So for example you could describe something as: a complex situation or a complex problem. You might also say that something is a complex issue . So for example: In the United States race relations are a complex issue. These are some words that complex is used to describe: problem, issue, situation. They can all be complex. We could also use it as a sentence: The professor explained the complex topic, so that implies that the topic that was being discussed is complicated. Its a little bit difficult to understand but the professor explained it. If you are studying neuroscience it is likely that you will encounter several complex topics. There are many other disciplines that involve complex topics as well. Cath Anne: [00:08:48] Our number five word for this week is a concept. A concept is an idea. Its something that you form in your mind. So say you are thinking about something new, youre learning a new topic. You might think about it differently and come up with a new concept to try and explain that idea or show people. So for example, when the light bulb was invented that was a new concept. Lets use it in a sentence, Traveling to Mars is an interesting concept. This means traveling to Mars is an interesting idea. Its an interesting thought. We may not know all the details about how we do it or why we want to do it but it is an interesting concept to consider. It is something new and different that maybe we hadnt considered before. Cath Anne: [00:09:42] All of the above words are helpful to incorporate into your academic writing. We have the word alternative, we have the word assessment. We have the word benefit, we have the word complex, and we have the word concept. They are all great words to incorporate into your writing. Cath Anne: [00:10:05] Now I want to discuss how to improve your vocabulary. I wanted to discuss one quick tip that can help you to effectively build your vocabulary if you are finding it is somewhat limited and you were just beginning in the academic field. You can certainly learn words but it is more effective to learn phrases. So when we just memorize words it can be difficult to retain that information because were not putting it into context. So this is why I provided you with some ideas, some thoughts, and some sentences related to each word that we discussed. If you are hoping to remember some of the words we discuss today right now try to incorporate them into sentences and then share the sentences below in the comments. This will help you to retain some of the information that we have discussed. So choose one of these. It would be great if you guys could share in the comments a sentence you come up with in relation to one of the words we have discussed today. Cath Anne: [00:11:06] I forgot to write complex and concepts here as well. Cath Anne: [00:11:15] We love when you guys engage you so please take some time to think about the sentence and it will also help you to remember these words that we talked about. Try more than one sentence if you like! Cath Anne: [00:11:28] So that does it for me this week. Cath Anne: [00:11:30] Im hoping that this series will be really valuable to you. Were going to talk about fifty different words. I think that next time we might do 10 in one session. But I didnt want to do too many today just to get this segment rolling. I decided to start with 5. Julius Caesar- Honor of Brutus Essay - 776 Words
The Honor of an Important Roman Man In Roman history, some elite men held certain values that they felt strong enough to take their life in order to defend it. In William Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Julius Caesar, there are certain characters portrayed to show how a personââ¬â¢s values or ideas can change their behavior and influence some significant decisions. The protagonist of the play, Marcus Brutus, supports this thought by having an idealistic view on the world and by showing his patriotism toward Rome. In William Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Julius Caesar, Shakespeare uses Brutus as an honorable, idealistic man in order to show the depth that a high-class Roman man will go through in order to defend his honor. If a person truly can define himself as an honorableâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Cassiusââ¬â¢s thinking is that when Caesar falls, Antony is not to be trusted and will most likely seek revenge. However, Brutus once again disagrees with Cassiusââ¬â¢s opinion thinking that Antony is an honorable man who, without Caesar, is too weak to actually take revenge against them. Brutus and Cassiusââ¬â¢s contradicting thoughts on Antony are shown when Brutus says, Our course will seem too bloody, Caius Cassius, To cut the head off and then hack the limbs, Like wrath in death and envy afterwards; For Antony is but a limb of Caesar (2.1.175-178). Clearly, Brutus thinks that by killing Antony alongside Caesar, the conspirators will be seen as butchers. Brutusââ¬â¢s idealism backfires against him as Antony later takes revenge against the conspirators for killing Caesar. In addition, when an honorable man sometimes makes a decision that turns out to be inconsistent with his values, he must make drastic decisions in order to make up for it. A while after Caesar is killed, Brutus starts to realize that maybe he did not do the honorable thing in killing Caesar. Brutus comes to this conclusion when he is arguing with Cassius and says, Remember March; the ides of March remember. Did not great Julius bleed for justice sake? What villain touched his body that did stab And not for justice? These concerns include how to mange layoffs, address reduced employee loyalty, generate a well trained highly motivated work force that can deliver higher quality and productivity. Mange and increase diverse workforce and contain health care cost. HRM has been undergoing transformation. In 1970s, the job of the HR manger was to keep their companies out of court and in compliance with the increasing number of regulations governing the work place. In the 1980s HR mangers had to address staffing costs related to mergers and acquisitions and downsizing. The economic issues related to an increasingly global and completive workplace characterize the 1990s. Beside these concerns Firms are also facing some other challenges regarding workforce before we take up the HR challenges that face managers, we need to define manager and say a word about where human resources fit into the organization. Managers are people who are in charge of others and are responsible for the timely and correct execution of actions that promote their unitsââ¬â¢ successful performance. B. History of Personnel Management A group of people becomes an organization when they cooperate with each other to achieve common goals. Communication among them is therefore important. But people have individual motivations, which often differ, from the corporate goals. An effective organization is one which succeeds in getting people to accept that cooperating to achieve organizational goals also helps them to achieve their own goals provided they are adequately rewarded through extrinsic and intrinsic rewards. This is achieved primarily through leadership and motivation. Employers therefore increasingly view human resource management from a strategic perspective, and as an appropriate means through which the chasm between organizational and individual goals can be narrowed. As it has been aptly observed: ââ¬Å"Part of the problem is that we have split off human resource management from the general management problem, as if there were some other kind of management other than human resource management. As long as organizations are based upon the coordinated action of two or more people, management is by definition human resource management. Despite the proliferation of writings and studies on HRM, there is a wide gap between the rhetoric and the reality, though the gap has been narrowing in the 1990s. There is as yet inadequate research to ascertain the extent to which practice matches corporate policy statements, and the impact of HRM policies and practices Page # 29 on employee behavior and morale. To have a major impact on enterprises, HRM has to be diffused across an economy, rather than remain islands of excellence. Nevertheless, promoting excellent models of HRM stimulates interest in better people management. HRM has three basic goals, which contribute to achieving management objectives. The first is integration of HRM in two senses: integrating HRM into an organizationââ¬â¢s corporate strategy, and ensuring an HRM view in the decisions and actions of line managers. Integration in the first sense involves selecting the HRM options consistent with (and which promote) the particular corporate strategy. The option is determined by the type of employee behavior expected (e. g. innovation) needed to further the corporate strategy. For instance, the HRM policies in relation to recruitment, appraisal, compensation, training, etc. iffer according to whether the business strategy is one of innovation, quality enhancement or cost reduction. A strategy of innovation may require a pay system less influenced by market rates but which rewards creativity, and the pay rates would even be low so long as there are ways of making up the earnings package. A cost reduction strategy may lead to pay rates being strongly influenced by market levels. Similarly, training and development wo uld receive less emphasis in a cost reduction strategy than in one where the objective is innovation or quality. But such integration is difficult without securing the inclusion of a HRM view in the decisions and practices of line managers. This requires that HRM should not be a centralized function. A second goal of HRM is securing commitment through building strong cultures. This involves promoting organizational goals by uniting employees through a shared set of values (quality, service, innovation, etc. ) based on a convergence of employee and enterprise interests, which the larger Japanese enterprises have been particularly adept at. A third goal of HRM is to achieve flexibility and adaptability to manage change and innovation in response to rapid changes consequent upon globalization. Relevant to HRM policies in this regard are training and multi-skilling, re-organization of work and removal of narrow job classifications. Appropriate HRM policies are designed, for instance, to recruit, develop and retain quality staff, to formulate and implement agreed performance goals and measures, and to build a unified organizational culture. C. Shifting from Personnel Management to HRM The transformation is reflected by raising important role of HRM from the personal management purpose from one of focussing on employee welfare to one of managing people in a way, which matches organizational goal and individual goals and providing employees with intrinsic and extrinsic rewards. Therefore Therefore, today Human Resource Management (HRM), historically known as personal management, deals with formal system for the management of the people within the organization. You read "Entering Grooming Business in Hong Kong Pest Analysis" in category "Papers" Many well-known companies report that they are trying to transform their workforce into a source of completive advantage. Stages of shifting of Personnel Management to HRM: First, HRM earlier reacted piece-meal to problems as they arose. Effective HRM seeks to link HRM issues to the overall strategy of the organization, with the most effective HRM policies and practices integrated into such corporate policies and strategies to reinforce or change an organizationââ¬â¢s culture. Integration is needed in two senses ââ¬â integrating HRM issues in an organizationââ¬â¢s strategic plans and securing the acceptance and inclusion of a HRM view in the decisions of line managers. The HRM policies in respect of the various functions (e. g. recruitment, training, etc. ) should be internally consistent. They must also be consistent with the business strategies and should reflect the organizationââ¬â¢s core values. The problem of integrating HRM view business strategy arises, for example, in a diversified enterprise with different products and markets. In such cases it is difficult to match HRM policies with strategies that could vary among different business activities, each of which may call for different HRM policies. Second, building strong cultures is a way of promoting particular organizational goals, in that ââ¬Å"a ââ¬Ëstrong cultureââ¬â¢ is aimed at uniting employees through a shared set of managerially sanctioned values (ââ¬Ëqualityââ¬â¢, ââ¬Ëserviceââ¬â¢, ââ¬Ëinnovationââ¬â¢ etc. ) that assume an identification of employee and employer interests. However, there can be tension between a strong organizational culture and the need to adapt to changed Page # 30 ircumstances and to be flexible, particularly in the highly competitive and rapidly changing environment in which employers have to operate today. Rapid change demanded by the market is sometimes difficult in an organization with a strong culture. IBM has been cited as a case in point. Its firmly-held beliefs about products and services made it difficult for it to effect changes in time, i. e. when the market required a radical change in product and service (from mainframe, customized systems, salesmen as management consultants to customer-as-end-user, seeking quality of product and service) o personal computers (standardized product, cost competition, dealer as customer). Nevertheless, in the long term a strong organizational culture is preferable to a weak one. Third, the attitude that people are a variable cost is, in effective HRM, replaced by the view that people are a resource and that as social capital can be developed and can contribute to competitive advantage. Increasingly, it is accepted that competitive advantage is gained through well-educated and trained, motivated and committed employees at all levels. This recognition is now almost universal, and accounts for the plausible argument that training and development are, or will be, the central pillar of HRM. Fourth, the view that the interests of employees and management or shareholders are divergent and confliction ââ¬â though substantially true in the past ââ¬â is giving way to the view that this need not necessarily be so. As organization, which practices, effective HRM seeks to identify and promote a commonality of interests. Significant examples are training which enhances employment security and higher earning capacity for employees while at the same time increasing the employeeââ¬â¢s value to the enterpriseââ¬â¢s goals of better productivity and performance; pay systems which increase earnings without significant labor cost increases, and which at the same time promote higher performance levels; goal-setting through two-way communication which establishes unified goals and objectives and which provides intrinsic rewards to the employee through a participatory process. Fifth, top-down communication coupled with controlled information flow to keep power within the control of management giving way to a sharing of information and knowledge. This change facilitates the creation of trust and commitment and makes knowledge more productive. Control from the top is in effective HRM being replaced by increasing employee participation and policies, which foster commitment and flexibility that help organizations to change when necessary. The ways in which the larger Japanese enterprises have installed participatory schemes and introduced information-sharing and two-way communication systems are instructive in this regard. In enterprises that tend to have corporate philosophies or missions, and where there are underlying values that shape their corporate culture, HRM becomes a part of the strategy to achieve their objectives. In some types of enterprises such as ones in which continuous technological change takes place, the goal of successfully managing change at short intervals often requires employee cooperation through emphasis on communication and involvement. As this type of unit grows, ââ¬Å"If there is strategic thinking in human resource management these units are likely to wish to develop employee-relations policies based on high individualism paying above market rates to recruit and retain the best labor, careful selection and recruitment systems to ensure high quality and skill potential, emphasis on internal training schemes to develop potential for further growth, payment system designed to reward individual performance and cooperation, performance and appraisal reviews, and strong emphasis on team work and communication â⬠¦ In short, technical and capital investment is matched by human resource investments, at times reaching near the ideals of human resource management. Shift of personnel management to HRM took place in three stages: Records and 1. Records and Administration 2. Accountability Regulations 3. Competitive Advantage 1. Records and Administration In first stage the primary activities, which were carried out by personnel department, were, Planning Company picnics Scheduling vacations, Enrolling workers for health-are coverage, Planning retirement parties These concerns include how to mange layoffs, address reduced employee loyalty, create a well trained highly motivated work force that can deliver higher quality and productivity, mange and increase diverse workforce and contain health care cost. 2. Accountability Regulations During this stage primary framework of rules and regulations started emerging tin the organization. Beside these concerns 3. Competitive Advantage The aim of this shift stage is from merely securing compliance to the more ambitious one of winning commitment. The employee resource, therefore, becomes worth investing in, and training and development thus assume a higher profile. These initiatives are associated with, and maybe are even predicated upon, a tendency to shift from a collective orientation to the management of the workforce to an individualistic one. Accordingly management looks for ââ¬Ëflexibilityââ¬â¢ and seeks to reward differential performance in a differential way. Communication of managerial objectives and aspirations takes on a whole new importance. What separates or distinguishes HRM from the traditional personnel function is the integration of HRM into strategic management and the pre-occupation of HRM with utilizing the human resource to achieve strategic management objectives. HRM ââ¬Å"seeks to eliminate the mediation role and adopts a generally unitary perspective. It emphasizes strategy and planning rather than problem solving and mediation, so that employee cooperation is delivered by programme of corporate culture, remuneration packaging, and team building and management development for core employees, while peripheral employees are kept at armââ¬â¢s length. HRM strategies may be influenced by the decisions taken on strategy (the nature of the business currently and in the future) and by the structure of the enterprise (the manner in which the enterprise is structured or organized to meet is objectives). In an enterprise with effective HRM polices and practices, the decisions on HRM are also strategic decisions influenced by strategy and structure, and by external factors such as trade unions, the labor market situation and the legal system. In reality most firms do not have such a well thought out sequential HRM model. But we are considering here is also effective HRM, and thus a model where HRM decisions are as strategic as the decisions on the type of business and structure. At conceptual level the interpretations of HRM indicate different emphases, which lead to concentration on different contents of the discipline. The various distinctions or interpretations indicate that HRM ââ¬Å"Can be used in a restricted sense so reserving it as a label only for that approach to labor management which treats labor as a valued asset rather than a variable cost and which accordingly counsels investment in the labor resource through training and development and through measures designed to at tract and retain a committed workforce. Alternatively it is sometimes used in an extended way so as to refer to a whole array of recent managerial initiatives including measures to increase the flexible utilization of the labor resource and other measures, which are largely directed at the individual employee. But another distinction can also be drawn. This directs attention to the ââ¬Ëhardââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ësoftââ¬â¢ versions of HRM. The ââ¬Ëhardââ¬â¢ one emphasizes the quantitative, calculative and business-strategic aspects of managing the headcounts resource in as ââ¬Ërationalââ¬â¢ a way as for any other economic factor. By contrast, the ââ¬Ësoftââ¬â¢ version traces its roots to the human-relations school; it emphasizes communication, motivation, and leadership. There are several ways in which HRM has changed earlier attitudes and assumptions of personnel management about managing people. The new model of HRM includes many elements vital to the basic management goal of achieving and maintaining How to cite Entering Grooming Business in Hong Kong Pest Analysis, Papers

Marlboro Advertisement Analysis
Jim Fowles Fowles says that an advert has appeals from the following dimensions. That is sex, affiliation, dominance, autonomy among others. From the four categories, Marlboro Man appeals to the person reading the advert from each dimension. First, the Marlboro Man is riding a horse. Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Marlboro Advertisement Analysis specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Clearly, he is winning something. Could it be a tournament or a game? In the American culture, everyone reveres winning and winners. Kids learn from their parents how to win in life and among peers. Hence, this is a direct influence to a majority of these people. A man is riding the horse. In the American and almost every culture in the world, men must have a certain appeal that borders on dominance to win the hearts of women. Advertisers use this fact and Fowles is an advocate. Therefore, on that front, it appeals directly to women who view this as a man of means. He is capable of protection of the family and his woman. He also stands out among his peers. This means that he is the man every woman would go for. Therefore, the advert has a direct psychological connection with majority of women. This does not mean they will use these cigarettes. However, it meets the whole intention of advertising, which is attention. The other factor that Fowles uses to judge a good advert is autonomy. This stands out quite well in the Marlboro advert. He is wearing a cowboy hat. We might as well assume that he is moving around his vast property. This makes him autonomous and able to make personal decisions. It also projects him as dependable. This has a direct appeal to both men and women. Men strive to be that dependable person who stands out in a big crowd while women seek these men (Kotabe and Kristiaan 34). Marlboro Man is an advert for cigarettes. However, it is fair to say that its influence cuts across the board. It does no t influence smokers only. This is the true nature of advertising. Although the target may be a certain group, an advert should strive to influence a large number of people. This is because in marketing the larger the pool the greater the likelihood of making a sale. Courtland Bovee While Jim Fowles analyzes the use of image in advertising, Courtland Bovee analyzes the use of text. The textual components of an advert should meet and exceed the expectations of the target group. The first textual component is the heading/headlines and subheadings. In the Marlboro Man advert, it is evident that use of text is quite limited. The only text appears at the end of a large image. The reason lies in the fact that the target is not patient. Advertising Looking for essay on advertising? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Textual advertisements are appealing to people who take time to read them. In the above case, most of the people are not pa tient. This group includes teenagers, men and people who are starting to make it in life. Hence, psychologically, they do not want things that might appear as disturbances (Ulrich and Song 296). In using textual ads, Bovee offers some dos and donââ¬â¢ts. For example, it is suicidal to use commonly used phrases or clichà ©s. This dilutes the message of an advert. He advises that the text be bold enough to meet the eyes of the reader. He also says it is important to use short and easy to remember phrases. He refers to them as catchy and appealing to the eye. Clearly, the intention of Marlboro Man advert is not one of the above-mentioned. His intention was to use images. However, the little text that Marlboro uses must be a tagline or a legal warning. This is because mixing both textual and image advertising requires skills. Sometimes, it may fail. ââ¬ËStyle meets flavorââ¬â¢ or ââ¬Ësmoking is harmful to your healthââ¬â¢ are the most probable words under the Marlboro ad vert. They serve to inform the public about the packet of cigarettes and appeal to truthful advertising. It is also important to meet legal requirements that are hard to form into an image (Young 45). Strengths and Weaknesses of Analytical Principles Weaknesses Boveeââ¬â¢s textual analysis and preference for textual advertising may contravene copyright laws. This is because another company somewhere may use some of the phrases. Although this is not possible with internet because a person can easily find out, it is something that users of this method are aware. Secondly, it is almost universal that people do not read long things especially on advertisements. This is especially true when the advert interrupts a favorite program in television. This is the reason why it should be catchy and direct at the same time. The other weakness about textual advertising is that it is almost impossible to do it without employing images. However, it is critical for the two forms of advertising t o meet standards expected by viewers (Ulrich and Song 296). It is illogical to use images on a print media. This is because print media charges use of space. Images take up large spaces and hence payment for using print may be staggering. Hence, it is economical to use electronic media. The blend of images can be done quite fast and meet the advertisers intention as fast. However, an image on a print media lacks flexibility (Young 45). Strengths Textual adverts are quite important when the message that an advertiser wants to relay is detailed. However, this is only possible in a print media. In electronic media, use of images is better and makes sense. For example, an advertisement of a college and the faculties it has requires a detailed reading. This way an advert offers a multidimensional source for information. This may include directions, prices and times for classes. In the Marlboro Man case, use of text may not do much to appeal to the target (Ulrich and Song 296).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Marlboro Advertisement Analysis specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Images are important when the intention of the advertiser is to leave a lasting impact on the mind of the target market. A catchy phrase plus an appealing image work well to accomplish this goal. In the case of Marlboro man, it is quite easy to remember a man with a cowboy hat riding a horse with a caption ââ¬Ëstyle meets flavorââ¬â¢. Fowlesââ¬â¢ use of imagery to advertise may not contravene any laws. This is because during incorporation of a company, colors are one of the requirements. Hence, during inception, a company knows what colors to use and subsequent competitors may not use a similar combination of colors. Colors sell brands. Hence, it is paramount that a company chooses this aspect well (Young 45). Works Cited Kotabe, Masaki Kristiaan Helsen. Global Marketing Management. New York: John Wiley Sons, 2004. Why PrepScholar is Great for Busy Students
Why PrepScholar is Great for Busy Students SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Are you a busy student with no extra time for SAT prep, but know itââ¬â¢s important for your college apps? Check out PrepScholarââ¬â¢s unique program that automatically gives you the lessons and practice you need based on your performance. Lots of teenagers come home from school and spend the hours until dinner watching TV, YouTube videos, or on Facebook. Other students have already learned how much that time can be used for, and how important it is to use all their time to build an impressive rà ©sumà © for college. Still others are busy because of time limitations over which they have no control, like babysitting siblings or long bus rides every day. All of the busy students described here can take advantage of PrepScholar to fit efficient, flexible and interactive prep into their schedules. PrepScholar is Efficient Classroom courses and test prep books are organized by question typethe Student-Produced-Response Math questions, for instance, or the Improving Sentences Writing questions. But this doesnââ¬â¢t really get at the point of the test, because the skills being testedthe information you need to answer correctly every timearenââ¬â¢t related to the question type. Sure, there are skills that are tested more often in a certain question type, but thatââ¬â¢s the entire extent of the relationship. Skill-Based Learning Our teaching system maximizes learning effectiveness by customizing your lessons by skill. If youââ¬â¢re great at functions but weak in solid geometry, weââ¬â¢re not going to make you do many functions questions so you can use that time to improve your understanding of the fundamentals of geometric formulas and relationships. It seems simple, but weââ¬â¢re the only company that breaks it down this way and personalizes the program to meet your individual needs. Student-Specific Levels In addition to tailoring the lessons to the skills you most need to improve, PrepScholar also adjusts to your increasing ability: there are 3 levels for each skill, and you are placed in one initially by our diagnostic test. If you place into the Mastery level of a particular skill, the only time youââ¬â¢ll be working on that skill is during the Practice Test (which is helpful in terms of understanding that skillââ¬â¢s frequency and presentation). Pinpoint Focus Students have different ways of understanding things, and so besides saving time, itââ¬â¢s actually important to your learning that you donââ¬â¢t waste time ââ¬Å"learningâ⬠things you already knowit can be easy to get confused about a subject you thought you understood perfectly. Similarly, for skills in which your understanding has gaps, you train your mind through focused problems that let you zero in on the knowledge youââ¬â¢re missingand then get it! Skills by Priority One of the most unique aspects of PrepScholar is our understanding of testsââ¬â¢ inner workings: some skills are considered more important and thus are tested more frequently. Mastering these skills is key to the bulk of your score, and our program reflects this in the time spent learning and practicing each skill. The Best Choice Busy students know that unnecessary work can waste lots of time. PrepScholar avoids this entirely, in a way that other kinds of prep canââ¬â¢t. If you read a book, you have to skim every chapter to determine which you need to study. With practice tests, you spend literally hours doing problems you could do in your sleep, and in classroom courses youââ¬â¢re at the mercy of a random teacher and a group of random studentsââ¬â¢ questions. PrepScholar is a step above all that. PrepScholar Is Flexible The internet has changed the way most of us do many thingsshopping, reading, communicating with friends. But education has so far lagged behind commerce and social media, partially from an entrenched belief that physical teacher presence is an important part of the learning experience. But everyone is starting to believe that quality, creative education can and does happen through the internetand PrepScholar is one of the companies that uses that fact to benefit students. 24/7 One of the things people love about internet shopping is that itââ¬â¢s always available, even at times when every store in town is closed. PrepScholar has the same huge advantagepractice whenever you want, wherever you have internet access. There are no time or space restrictions on your learning. Like to study outside? Take your laptop. Like to study in the basement? Take your tablet. Itââ¬â¢s as simple as that. A Full Year to Prep If youââ¬â¢re one of those busy students who knows he or she has to start projects early in order to get them done, PrepScholar is perfect for you. Most prep courses are designed to lead up to one test date, usually spread out over a couple of months. PrepScholar puts you in the driverââ¬â¢s seatstudy for as long as you like, until your Practice Test scores have reached your goal, and take the next test date available. Itââ¬â¢s never too early to start prepping. Scheduling We know it can be hard to fit ââ¬Å"optionalâ⬠test prep into a slew of ââ¬Å"mandatoryâ⬠meetings, family events, extracurriculars and other appointments. Our program encourages you to set aside 5-10 hours a week for test prep and spend that time on the site doing lessons and Practice Quizzes. The program tracks the time you spend so you donââ¬â¢t have to. Our program is also set up to remind you when youââ¬â¢re not meeting your goals, and of the long-term benefit of sticking to your schedule. Interactivity: Retention Many studies have shown that interactivity enhances retention of material. When you retain more material per lesson, you get more benefit per lesson, saving you precious time and effort. Most online prep offers little in the way of interactivity; at PrepScholar, we know that doing problems yourself and questioning the lesson is essential to a complete learning experience. In addition to interactive lessons, PrepScholar students can ask questions about any of the quizzes on the site and get prompt, top quality instructor responses. Interactivity: Feedback We also offer interactivity in the form of extremely detailed feedback. Not only do you get precise information about your progress in various skills, but you also get feedback about time youââ¬â¢re spending on study and how your score is improving. All of this adds up to an engaging experience that makes test prep as fun as it can be. Want to know more about how to fit SAT prep into your busy schedule? Try our advice on how to early prepare.

None - Essay Example Furthermore, they respect the ancestors as a sign of adhering to the religion. Paganism is practiced in the modern day world. Some even carry out practices of paganism without realizing. In fact, many practices of paganism have been incorporated in the modern religions. Most religions practice festivals which revolve throughout the year. Pagans celebrate festival according to calendar. This has been adopted by religions such as Christianity. Paganism has the characteristic of using physical objects to represent their gods. This ritual has been adopted by Christians to represent certain aspects of worship. For instance, Catholics use images of Jesus on the cross I their worship. This is not different from paganism. It amounts to worshipping of what one can see (Davy 87). Though there are sacred explanations to these rituals, the fact remain that physical objects are used to make images of God. This is a case whereby the Christians practice paganism but they are not ware. I prefer that they stop using the images. There has been the battle of whether to approve or ban the use of tattoo. Tattoo is a common activity among the youth whereby they draw images on their bodies. Many parents have differed with their children on the matter regarding it an ill activity. Some people have been advocating that the laws should reflect parental rights. This would enable the parents to make decision on whether to allow their children to use tattoos. Many states have laws that make the practice illegal to minors if it is done without parental approval. To be exact, at least 45 states in America have laws that illegalize the use of tattoos among minors (PBS, 1). According to the laws, the people who perform the tattoo are considered as the violators. The law is appropriate. The state gives parents an opportunity to exercise control over their children. BUSINESS RESEARCH WEEK4 TEAM - Assignment Example This is because qualitative research provides a conclusive, extensive and detailed description of the phenomenon under investigation. It can be regarded as more exploratory in nature. On the other hand, quantitative research involves more of numerical data collection and calculations such as counting, classification, construction of statistical models and figures to elucidate the observed phenomena. Therefore, qualitative is essential for earlier phases of the business research design. Efficient Market Theory and Behavioural Finance Essay -- Business, Glo
The behaviour of markets and investors, the decision making in the market place and the dynamics of demand and supply in any given market cannot be determined with a hundred percent accuracy. However master minds in the past have designed various techniques and theories that help investors make a particular buying decision, or to make choices logically. These theories and techniques help todayââ¬â¢s investors to peep into the future and make almost immaculate predictions regarding the future behaviour of the market and the ongoing trends. A lay man night view the decision making of an investor as being solely based upon speculation but in reality every move that an investor makes today in the market place is backed up by sound calculation and theories. Two of the most talked about and essential theories or concepts that are related to the market dynamics and that will be discussed at length in this assignment are Efficient Market Theory and Behavioural Finance. Efficient Market Theory suggests that in every financial market the flow of information is very efficient and this is reflected in the price of the share at which it is being traded. As we know that the price of the share floating in a market is not only dependent upon the company name printed and the information about the company in the balance sheet and other financial statements available to the public (Baghestani, H., 2009). In fact government and political stability, inflation, interest rates, treasury bills and several more factors determine the price at which any particular share is sold or bought at. Information about all these factors is always available to every investor in the market, be it the buyer or the seller. Moreover this information is available in an effi... ...ormation regarding the dynamics of the market and if this holds true then a financial market can never collapse. However in real world we face event like that of the 2007 global financial crisis that decelerated the global economic progress a great deal and once prosperous economies like the US ended up finding themselves in a state of panic where the poverty rose above all the previous levels and unemployment hiked to intolerable levels. Furthermore, the interest rates in the United States fell to a dreadful 1% during this crisis leading to falling savings in its economy. Hence we can conclude that Efficient Market Theory presents a weak argument to define market place dynamics. However if a combination of Efficient Market Theory and Behavioural Finance is utilized to predict market place dynamics then this would be defined as an efficient and effective approach.

Character and Fate Essay
In the book ââ¬Å"The Mayor of Casterbridgeâ⬠written by Thomas Hardy, the character Michael Henchard experiences a dramatic rise to grace and even more dramatic fall from it. He tries to demonstrate how fateful coincidences, character, and temperament act together in life to determine the outcome of a personââ¬â¢s life. Fate plays a very important part in ââ¬Å"The Mayor of Casterbridgeâ⬠. Thomas Hardy uses the plot of the novel relies on number of coincidences. The key initial event in the novel is the arrival of Newson at the furmity tent as Henchard sells his wife. Farfrae ââ¬Å"who might possibly have passed by without stoppingâ⬠arrives in Casterbridge, just as Henchard is being criticized for the quality of his corn. Henchard brings his fate upon himself for after much persuasion he convinces Farfrae to stay and employs him which is an ironic twist of fate as one day it will be Farfrae who employs Henchard. Henchard, as a magistrate, is in the court on the day when the furmity woman is on trial. This event like so many others is a fateful coincidence that changes Henchardââ¬â¢s life forever. The cruel timings of fate occur many times throughout the novel, right up to the closing chapter when Elizabeth-Jane goes to see Henchard half an hour after he has died. Even the weather seems to be fatefully against Henchard. Henchardââ¬â¢s plans for the holiday are ruined by rain. Henchard jealous of Farfrae decides to ruin him financially. Henchard is not thinking clearly based on weather prophetââ¬â¢s predictions for rain and encouraged by Jopp, he buys all the grain in Casterbridge. Unfortunately for him, the weather improves and the grain prices fall. As a result, Henchard is ruined by fate and his own foolishness. The weather in contrast aids Farfrae who makes lot of money where Hardy mentions ââ¬Å"Meanwhile Donald Farfrae prosperedâ⬠¦..a large heap of gold, where a little one had beenâ⬠. Here, Hardy tries to demonstrate the fate and character both acts together against Henchard which results his downfall. However, Hardy also tries to emphasize that it is not just fate that causesà his downfall. Itââ¬â¢s also because of his character and temperament which lead to his downfall. From the first chapter Henchardââ¬â¢s rashness and impulsive character is visible throughout the whole book. He behaves impulsively when he sells his wife, when he dismisses Jopp and misbehave Abel Whittle. Hardy portrays him as a victim of impulsivity. He is man who is ruled by feelings, not thought and he acts on emotions. Hardy also characterize Henchard as a person who possesses very bad judgment and has a tendency to make the wrong decision, for example believing in Farfrae or selling his wife. The decisions he makes are normally spontaneous and irresponsible. Hardy also characterizes Henchard as a short-tempered person which is one of his character responsible for his own downfall. This temper causes him to overreact and lose control. Hardy writes ââ¬Å"cried Henchard in a savage undertoneâ⬠. This temper initiate Jopp into seeking revenge against Henchard. Henchard describes his trade with Farfrae as ââ¬Å"a tussle of fair buying and selling.â⬠When he loses his temper because Farfraeââ¬â¢s business is succeeding, whereas Henchardââ¬â¢s is declining, Henchard then says, weââ¬â¢ll ââ¬Å"grind him into the ground ââ¬â starve him out â⬠¦ snuff him outâ⬠. Henchard is also very determined and proud man. It is because of this that he refuses to take a room in Farfraeââ¬â¢s house or to claim back his furniture. In many ways he is almost too proud which makes his own downfall seem much worse to him. Clearly, these characteristics contributed to his downfall. When things are going wrong for Henchard he does not act, he accepts the situations silently, at that time Hardy writes ââ¬Å"I am to suffer I perceiveâ⬠. Even if he had a good character, his ill luck could led to his destruction. If he had a different character, fate might still worked against him. Hardy tries to say that what happens has to happen because of fate and no one can stop that. He writes ââ¬Å"Susan, Farfrae, Lucetta, Elizabethââ¬âall had gone from him, one after one, either by his fault or by his misfortuneâ⬠. Although, through out the novel, Thomas Hardy demonstrates the life of man who is suffered by his ill fate and character, he also portrays the life ofà self-made man who rose from hay trusser to mayor. Despite his many faults, he must does have some admirable qualities. Henchard stay away from alcohol for twenty-one years as a form of self-punishment. When he became bankrupt, he face his creditors instead of ran away from them. Here one of his creditor remarks ââ¬Å"I have never met a debtor who behaved more fairlyâ⬠. When Henchardââ¬â¢s life crashes around him he accepts the situation and returns to being a simple hay-trusser. This is a very admirable attitude. Examples throughout the book also show Henchard to be gentle, courageous, hardworking, kind and fair but in many cases a very unlucky man. Finally, it is a fine distinction between fate and character and they are very often intertwined. Fate and character coexist in the novel. They are dependent on each other. It is a combination of character and destiny that cause Henchardââ¬â¢s downfall. After twenty-one years Henchard walks back along the same path he travelled many years before. Still alone and with nothing to show for all his pain and suffering. He makes mistakes but experiences great suffering as a result. He dies a lonely isolated man, a warning to us all, of defect in character and ill-fate.

How to Declare and Initialize Constant Arrays in Delphi
In Delphi, the versatile web-programming language,à arrays allow a developer to refer to a series of variables by the same name and to use a numberââ¬âan indexââ¬âto tell them apart. In most scenarios, you declare an array as a variable, which allowsà for array elements to be changed at run-time. However, sometimes you need to declare a constant arrayââ¬âa read-only array. You cannot change the value of a constant or a read-only variable. Therefore, while declaring a constant array, you must also initialize it. Example Declaration of Three Constant Arrays This code example declares and initializes three constant arrays, named Days, CursorMode, and Items. Days is a string array of six elements. Days[1] returns the Mon string.CursorMode is anà array of two elements, whereby declaration CursorMode[false] crHourGlass and CursorMode crSQLWait. cr* constants can be used to change the current screen cursor.Items defines an array of three TShopItemà records. type à à TShopItem record à à à à Name : string; à à à à Price : currency; à à end; const à à Days : array[0..6] of string à à ( à à à à à Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, à à à à à Thu, Fri, Sat à à ) ; à à CursorMode : array[boolean] of TCursor à à ( à à à à crHourGlass, crSQLWait à à ) ; à à Items : array[1..3] of TShopItem à à ( à à à à (Name : Clock; Price : 20.99), à à à à (Name : Pencil; Price : 15.75), à à à à (Name : Board; Price : 42.96) à à ) ; Trying to assign a value for an item in a constant array raises the Left side cannot be assigned to compile time error.
